Earnest Peavy
Earnest Lee Peavy, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 in Snyder. 
Funeral service for Mr. Peavy will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home. 
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Peavy was born on March 8, 1932 in Smithdale, Miss. to Willie and Leotis (Wells) Peavy. He retired from Wilson Motors’ paint and body department with more than 20 years of service. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and playing dominoes. Above all, Earnest enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was a Mason and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Nathaniel Peavy, Edward Earl and Tommy Peavy; one daughter, Angela Biggers; and one brother, Floyd Peavy.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Peavy of Snyder;  two sons, William Johnson and his wife, Toya, of Cleveland, Ohio and Elliot Tolbert and his wife, Nancy, of Chicago, Ill.; six daughters, Earnestine Tolbert, Shirley Johnson-Jenkins and Brenda Johnson, all of Chicago, Ill., Coretta Johnson-Carrington and Earnestine White, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Felsha’ Biggers of Snyder; one brother, Charles Carter and his wife, Allean, of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Veralyn Cain of Snyder; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Alice Stewart
Alice Inez Stewart, 85, of Loraine, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 in San Antonio.
Graveside service for Mrs. Stewart will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Loraine Cemetery with the Rev. Darold Baldwin officiating. The service will be under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stewart was born on May 1, 1933 in Spur to T.E. and Maude (Walker) Stevenson. She married James Franklin Stewart on Sept. 30, 1950 in Loraine. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2010. She was a member of Loraine First Baptist Church and worked as a bank teller for 34 years at City National Bank. She was a housewife and homemaker who enjoyed making the best banana pudding in Texas. She loved dancing, playing bingo, dominoes and cards.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, T.E. and Maude Stevenson, one brother, Milton Stevenson, and two sisters, Claudie Bond and Dale Feagin.
Survivors include two sons, Frankie G. Stewart and his wife, Julie, of San Antonio and James D. Stewart and his wife, Darlene, of Colorado City; six grandchildren, Jason Stewart and his wife, Terrah, of New Braunfels, Jamie Stewart and his wife, Jennifer, of Saint Lawrence, Brandi Pittman and her husband, Casey, of Lubbock, Krisha Beal and her husband, Carl, of Blackwell, Kayla Kiker and her husband, George, of Midland and Kamie Tredwell of Lamesa; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
