Mike Boles, 63, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 in Abilene.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Brice B. Fuqua, 88, of Hermleigh, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 in Lubbock.
Funeral service for Mr. Fuqua will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with the Rev. Joshua Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Fuqua was born on April 21, 1930 in Dexter, Mo. to Lisle Owen and Pearl Dorthea Deardoff Fuqua. He married Joyce Hall on April 8, 1955 in Colorado City. Mr. Fuqua taught elementary school for 34 years in Hermleigh, Ira and Monte Alto. He was a farmer, a coach and a Boy Scout leader. He received a degree in agriculture. He raised show pigs, exotic birds, was a carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. He had a greenhouse, where he raised orchids and many other flowers. He liked to donate eggs and vegetables to the Scurry County Food Cupboard. He was active in Historic Scurry County, Inc. He was a member of the Hermleigh Central Baptist Church. Mr. Fuqua served in the U.S. Army and was a tank commander.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorthea Whicker, Beatrice Crain and Loyce Carrothers, and three brothers, Royce Fuqua, Dale Fuqua and Leroy Fuqua.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Fuqua of Hermleigh; one daughter, Lori Williamson and her husband, John, of Hermleigh; one son, Brice Britt and his wife, Lee Fuqua, of Abilene; one brother, Wayne Fuqua and his wife, Shirley, of Rio Hondo; and four grandchildren, Jordan Williamson and Aaron Williamson, both of Hermleigh, and Breanna Fuqua and Corrina Fuqua, both of Denton.
