Doris “Dot” Camp Stokes, 89, of Snyder, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Snyder Healthcare Center.
Funeral service for Mrs. Stokes will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Dave Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dot was born on Feb. 19, 1929 in Snyder to Henry Carl and Ruby Ethel (Head) Camp. She married Carl Stokes on Dec. 27, 1947 in Snyder. Carl preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1997. Dot worked for Rogers, Inc., the Snyder Daily News as a bookkeeper and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She also enjoyed helping deliver Meals on Wheels for the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center and making quilts.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dwain Camp and Joe Camp, and one granddaughter, Jenny Valdez.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Stokes and his wife, Judy, of Shreveport, La., David Stokes and his wife, Darlene, of Snyder and Daryl Stokes and his wife, Susan, of St. Augustine, Fla.; one daughter, Kathy Flower and her husband, Bob, of Snyder; three sisters, Mickey Wyatt and her husband, Mark, of Duluth, Ga. and Rita Robbins and Pam Black, both of Snyder; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Pat Camp of Snyder and Virginia Camp of Bastrop.
