Helen “Bernice” Freeman Crow passed from this earth on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at 93 years old at Memorial Hospital in Seminole with an abundance of family by her side.
Funeral service for Mrs. Crow will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God Church in Seminole with the Rev. Joe Lapason officiating. Burial will follow in the Gaines County Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
Bernice was born on Nov. 15, 1925 in Ralls to the late Martin and Alice Freeman. She moved to California at the age of 16 to weld cargo ships during World War II. She married the late Garland Green on Jan. 25, 1941 and had three children. On May 19, 1957, she married Horace Crow and had four children.
She was also preceded in death one sister, Geraldine Payne; two brothers J.W. and Jesse Freeman; one daughter, Janice Kay Cave; and one great-grandson, Braden Joplin.
Survivors include six children and their spouses, Janette Huddleston and Sherry Howard, both of Snyder, Martin and Rosene of Justiceburg, Bobby Gale and Jimmy Wood of Seminole, Robert Dale Crow of Phoenix, Ariz. and Benny and Cathy Crow of Seagraves; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater West Texas Chapter, 4400 North Big Spring Hwy., No. C-32, Midland, TX 79705.
Howard Joe Harrington, 92, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at his home in Lubbock.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Jesusita Ortiz Leyva, 65, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019.
Funeral mass for Mrs. Leyva will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born on May 13, 1953 in Rotan to Manuel and Socorro Ortiz Sr., she married Jose Armando Leyva. She enjoyed cooking and watching church services on television. She was a CNA for more than 40 years. Jesusita was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Santos Ortiz; two sisters, Trinidad McGough and Maria Rodriguez; one niece, Leticia Marie Ortiz; and one brother-in-law, Terry Hez McGough.
Survivors include her husband, Jose Leyva of Snyder; one son, Ramon Guzman of Snyder; one daughter, San Juanita Guzman of San Angelo; three grandsons, Martin Andrew and Joseph Anthony Rodriguez, both of San Angelo, and Rey Armondo Guzman of Snyder; one granddaughter, Gabriella Denise Guzman of Snyder; three brothers, Juan Manual Ortiz Jr. and his wife, Lucy, of Roby, Martin Ortiz and his wife, Lisa, of Abilene and Guadalupe Ortiz and his wife, Pam, of Rotan; and one sister, Juanita Munoz of Rotan.

Lidia (Silva) Rios, 86, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 in Midland.
Funeral mass for Mrs. Rios will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon John Bane officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rios was born on July 30, 1932 in Ejido, Cristales, Mexico to Rogaciano and Maria (Segovia) Silva. She was a homemaker and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rosendo Rios, one son, Juan Rios, and one grandson, Eduardo Rios.
Survivors include seven sons, Raul Rios and his wife, Dora Elie, Arturo Rios and his wife, Eloisa, and Reynaldo Rios and his wife, Graciela, all of Snyder, Rosendo Rios Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Ejido, Cristales, Mexico, Rodolfo Rios and his wife, Elva Rose, of Bertram, Mario Rios and his wife, Patricia, of San Angelo and Gustavo Rios and his wife, Enereide, of Midland; four daughters, Alicia Rios and her husband, Juan Murillo, of Ejido, Cristales, Mexico, Guadalupe Murillo and her husband, Omar, and Esperanza Murillo and her husband, Martin, all of San Angelo, and Estele Almason and her husband, Hector, of Lubbock; 33 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
