Dominga “Sandy” Alvarado, 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alvarado will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Alvarado was born on March 27, 1934 in Brady to Eleno and Epifania (Silva) Carrillo. She was a caregiver and an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was a Guadalupana and a Cursillista. She loved to tell jokes and listen to music. She put God first and enjoyed going to church. She was very family oriented and loved to cook and care for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, C.P. Alvarado, one son, Loye Avarado, and two brothers, Stefanio Carrillo and Felipe Carrillo.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Torres and her husband, Elias, and Lorie Hernandez and her husband, Joe, all of Snyder; three sons, Joe Alvarado and his wife, Sally, and Frank Alvarado and his wife, Pauline, all of Snyder, and George Alvarado and his wife, Glenda, of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, John Carrillo of Snyder and Martin Carrillo of Nebraska; five sisters, Faustina Solis of Wichita Falls, Orlia Garcia, Alice Carrillo and Sallie Garcia, all of Fort Worth, and Jessie Carrillo of Dallas; 15 grandchildren, Joe Alvarado Jr. of San Antonio, Cynthia Alvarado of Odessa, Becky Casas, Natalie Flores and Elizabeth Cantu, all of Lubbock, Ann Marie Romo of Amarillo, Michelle Sanchez, Michael Frank Alvarado, Joel Torres and Elise Torres, all of Snyder, Mindy Alvarado of Houston, Melissa Alvarado of Shawnee, Kan., Andrew Wittich of Abilene, Gage Alvarado of Columbia, S.C. and Marcus Torres of Fort Campbell, Ky.; her special caregiver, Rosie Rocha; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
