Jimmy Randall Curtis died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 in Webster at the age of 65.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at OneLife Church in Webster. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery in Houston under the direction of Crowder Funeral Home in League City.
Randall was born on Feb. 11, 1953, in Snyder to John D. Curtis and Johnnie Faye Horton. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for six years before earning a degree in chemistry and working in that industry, where he obtained patents for his creation of complex chemical processes. Only then did he answer a calling and transition to a teaching career, eventually retiring from Clear Brook High School in 2015. Randall enjoyed hiking, sailing and visiting national parks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Faye Curtis.
Survivors include his wife Ruby “Sam” Curtis; two daughters, Rebecca and Rachel; one brother, DeWayne Curtis and his wife, Betty; and two sisters, Eugenia Bates and her husband, Steve, and Janet Curtis-Fuller and her husband, Albert.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Research Institute or the National Park Foundation.
Howard Lee Harrington, 92, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at his residence in Lubbock.
Funeral service for Mr. Harrington will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Snyder. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held following the service.
Andres Alvarez Sosa, 75, of Colorado City, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 in Lubbock.
Funeral mass for Mr. Sosa will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell County Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Born on Nov. 10, 1943 in Colorado City to Susano Sosa and Angelita Alvarez, he married Sophia Salazar on Sept. 25, 1971 in Colorado City. Mr. Sosa was a mechanic and a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel Sosa and Augustine Sosa, and two sisters, Carmen Salazar and Mary Gutierrez.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia Sosa of Colorado City; two daughters, Stella Mindling of Henderson and Sylvia Sosa of Colorado City; five sons, Willie Sosa of Dallas and Bobby Sosa, Olivar Sosa, Susano Sosa and Bruce Gonzales, all of Colorado City; four sisters, Pabla Gonzales, of Austin, Ofelia Otoole and Amparo Solis, both of Abilene, and Yolanda Molina, of Colorado City; two brothers, Antonio Sosa and Ansel Sosa, both of Colorado City; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
