Feb. 19 Obituaries
Mary Mavis Brumbelow, 91, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 in Snyder.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mavis was born on June 23, 1926. She graduated from Troy High School and then worked as a civil servant at the 12th Air Force, leaving that career in 1969 to move to Snyder to be hired as the very first employee at Western Texas College, where she retired in 1997. She was married to Kenneth Howell Brumbelow. She was a member of the 37th Street Church of Christ in Snyder for 49 years.
She was a quilter and when asked why she bought so much quilting material, her reply was she “just liked to touch it.” She loved the study of the Bible and poured over other resources written about the Bible to “make sure they got it right.”
Mavis’ parting is difficult for the family, but we know that there awaits a cup of righteousness for her as she fought the good fight, she kept the faith and she finished her course.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brumbelow in 1998; one daughter, Mary Lynne Brumbelow Pickett in 2010; and one granddaughter, Castle Michelle Soseman McKay in 2013.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Mitchell and Karol Lynn Blackwell-Brumbelow of Snyder; two grandchildren, Devin Elliot Blackwell of Brownwood and Michael Ryan Brumbelow of Snyder; one nephew, Jon Lyle Soseman Jr. of Menefee, Calif.; one great-nephew, Jackson Soseman of Menefee, Calif.; one great-niece, Jacie Soseman of Menefee, Calif.; and one great-granddaughter, Paisley Jean Blackwell of Brownwood.
Jose Ramos, 59, of Snyder, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Miller Family Funeral Home.
