Aurora Lopez Hernandez, 84, of Snyder, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017 in Snyder.
Funeral mass for Mrs. Hernandez was held at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Raj Arokiasamy officiating. Burial followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born on Oct. 31, 1933 in San Antonio to Jesus and Elvira (Olivarez) Lopez, she married Merce E. “Cap” Hernandez on Dec. 25, 1950 in Snyder. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church since the 1940s. She was a founding member of the Guadalupanas and was a Cruzillista.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Leonora Casas and Victoria Hernandez.
Survivors include her husband, Merce E. “Cap” Hernandez of Snyder; three sons, Merce L. Hernandez and Alberto L. Hernandez, both of Snyder, and Henry L. Hernandez of San Antonio; one sister, Juanita Chaidez of Snyder; and two brothers, Guadalupe Lopez of Snyder and Jose Lopez of Dallas.

Garland Parks, 80, of Snyder, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017.
Graveside service for Mr. Parks will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Snyder Cemetery with Diedra Parks officiating. The service will be under the direction of Miller Family Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born on Nov. 12, 1937 in Snyder to Garland Parks and Desi (Jenkins) Parks, he married Tonya Fisk on Sept. 4, 1984 in Lovington, N.M. He lived in Snyder all of his life. He was an auto mechanic for most of his adult life. The last 15 years or so of his working career, he farmed for Johnny Joe Eicke. He drove a tractor. Farming was his real passion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Grey Earl Parks
Survivors include his wife, Tonya Parks; one sister, Barbara Newman of Blanket; three children, Delores Sydow and her husband, Don, of Odessa, and Robbie Parks and Sharon Nash, both of Midland; three grandchildren, Curtis Sydow, Rachel Kinman and Eric Nash; and four great-grandchildren, Tanner Sydow, Tyler Sydow, Conner Kinman Ellie Kinman.
