Tommy Joe Baker, 77, passed from this life on April 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral service for Mr. Baker will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Tommy joined the Army National Guard on Jan. 31, 1958 as a security policeman and served four years and was inactive for four years. Tommy married Kathleen McMillan in Sedan, Kan. on June 6, 1962. That was the beginning of their love filled life together.
After his time in the Army National Guard, he did what he loved, working as a cowboy on the Floyd Mills Ranch in Kansas. Tommy worked in the oilfield for Koch Industries, then FMC, Meter Check and Angus Measurement. Prior to moving to Snyder, he co-owned and worked an oil lease with his father-in-law, John McMillan in Peru, Kan. Snyder had been their home for the past 25 years.
Tommy’s favorite pastimes were team roping, calf roping, golf and getting a hole-in-one, spending time driving Kathleen around the countryside enjoying nature and enjoying his time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gene Baker, and two sisters, Lena Mae Houser and Linda Coyendall.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Baker of Snyder; one son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Nancy Baker of Stanton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Kevin Buff of Abilene and Sara and Rob Grinslade of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Tyler Baker, Megan Baker, Holly Buff, Kelsey Buff, Emily Buff, Wyatt Cole and Abby Grinslade; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Mary Helen Baker of Harper, Kan.; and one brother-in-law, Jon Coyendall of Harper, Kan.

Tondra EmmaJane Coy, 53, of Snyder, died Friday, April 20, 2018 in Lubbock.
Memorial service for Mrs. Coy will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Vickie Burton officiating.
Mrs. Coy was born on Nov. 28, 1964 in Princeton, Ind. to Allen Joe and Ruth (Sifford) Martin.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Greg Martin.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Krieg of Snyder; one son, Jerriahmy Hartley and his wife, Stacy, of Morgantown, Ky.; one daughter, Tabbatha Lottes and her husband, Derrick, of Morgantown, Ky.; two sisters, Lori Beck and her husband, Brian, of Snyder and Cynthia Cullivan of Patoka, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Hayden, Bryson and Roselyn.
