1925-2018

Dr. John William O’Banion Jr., 92, of Snyder, died Friday, April 13, 2018.

Pete Rios

1947-2018

Pete Rios, 70, died Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Jamie Ward

1927-2018

Jamie Victoria Devaney Ward, of Bradshaw and formerly of Granbury, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018.  

Funeral service for Mrs. Ward will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Acton Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Holly Hills Memorial Park under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jamie was born on July 23, 1927 near Hawley to Benjamin Samuel Devaney and Minnie Elizabeth Henslee Devaney. She graduated from Anson High School in 1944. She proudly served as a cadet nurse in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944. She attended Hardin-Simmons University. 

She married J.P. Ward Jr. on Jan. 31, 1945 in Fort Myers, Fla. She worked as a teacher’s aide for 17 years with Snyder ISD and Birdwill ISD. She retired in 1982.  

Jamie was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene. She was a member of the Snyder Ladies Club, coaches wives, retired teachers and LLL Club at Acton Baptist Church. 

Jamie was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and teacher to special needs students.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law, James Headstream; her siblings, Ada Phillips, Agnes Carter, Pauline Cornelius, Jermine Matthews, Walter Devaney, Cecil Devaney and Little Henry Devaney; and one sister-in-law, Maybell Scott. 

Survivors include her children, Glenn L. Ward and his wife, Carolyn, and Victoria Ward Allen and her husband, Jim, all of Granbury, Donna Ward Headstream of Bradshaw, Benny A. Ward and his wife, Kathy, of San Angelo and Ron W. Ward and his wife, Sybi, of Austin; one brother, Benny Devaney and his wife, Bonnie, of Chandler Heights, Ariz.; one brother-in-law, Donald Ward and his wife, Frances, of Anson; her grandchildren, Donna Ward, James Headstream, Mindy and Ric Logsdan, Dalese and Eric Black, Amy and Ed Meier, Drew and Julia Ward, Brooke Smith, Aaron Ward, Josh and April Norman and Clay and Tanya Smith; her great-grandchildren, Will Smith, Allen Black, Penelope Meier, Logan Ward, Caroline Black, Nolan Meier and Leia Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Memorials may be made to the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church building fund, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
