Rising Star camp caters to young thespians
Young theater enthusiasts will once again have an opportunity to take the stage this summer when the 14th annual Rising Star Theatre Camp comes to town.
“This is our 14th year to do camp, and it’s awesome because they get to learn from members of the Snyder High School Golden Theatre Company,” camp director Craig Robertson said. “We love camp, and it’s one of our favorite things we do all year.”
During the two-week camp, participants will attend classes to learn about acting, stage movement and other performance techniques. The camp will also include themed dress-up days.
Over the course of the camp, young performers will also spend time rehearsing for an end-of-camp public production of Mary Poppins. The performance will be held at 2 p.m. July 28 at the Ritz Community Theatre.
The theater camp will be held July 16-27 at The Ritz.
The first week of camp will be held Monday through Friday, and the second week of camp will be held Monday through Saturday.
Campers will be divided into two age groups: children ages five through seven and students who have finished second grade through finished eighth grade.
The younger age group will attend camp from 9 a.m. to noon. The older age group will attend camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Camp registration is now open. The cost is $150 for five- through seven-year-old campers and $200 for second through eighth grade campers.
