The Scurry County law enforcement community gathered at the law enforcement center at 11 a.m. today to pay tribute to Harris County Sheriff Deputy Darren Goforth, who was killed on Aug. 28. Members of the Snyder Police Department, Scurry County Sheriff’s Office, Scurry County EMS and Snyder Fire Department turned on the red and blue flashing lights of their vehicles and held a moment of silence at the time Goforth’s funeral began. Four members of the Snyder Police Department attended the funeral of Abilene police Officer Don Allen, which was held at 10 a.m. today. Pictured are (l-r) Snyder police Lt. Randy Haynes, Snyder police Officer Miguel Gerrero, Snyder Fire Chief Perry Westmoreland, Snyder Fire Marshal Cy Posey, Snyder police Sgt. Dennis Young, Scurry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeanette Pritchard, Scurry County Sheriff’s Deputy Maggie Souder, telecommunicator Omega Vargas and Snyder police Sgt. Mike Counts.
