Western Texas College riders and ropers were poised to advance to the short round Saturday at the WTC rodeo at Scurry County Coliseum, dependent upon slack performances that were still underway Saturday morning.
Hadley Hunting won the long round in the saddle bronc riding competition, and will be joined in the championship round by fellow riders Cody Horwedel and Aaron Koster in the final go.
Julie Jones is on the verge of representing WTC in two events in the final round, placing second in barrel racing and sixth in goat-tying.
Sabrina Lay was fourth in barrels before the completion of Saturday slack, while Erin Anglin and Jennifer Weeding were tied for sixth in goat-tying.
Other WTC hands predicted to advance are Bruno Paoiella, steer wrestling; Paoiella and Horwedel and Reg Cully and Mario Paoiella, team roping; Trent Cormier and Jared Farley, bull riding and Clay Bunney and Jake Marshall, bareback riding.
The short round was slated for 7 p.m. Saturday night.
