Following the March 26 District UIL Literary Meet in Abilene, five Hermleigh students advanced to the regional meet set April 23-24 at Hardin Simmons University.

Advancing students include the science team, which earned first place. Members are Shae Rinehart, Joakim Lundvik and Jonathan McClure.

Alicia Culp also advanced after garnering third place in spelling and vocabulary.

Samantha Berry, who received second place in feature writing, will go on to regional. Also she earned fourth place in news writing.

The current events team placed second. Members are Shae Rinehart, Valerie West and Dustin Williamson.

The number sense team received fourth place. Members are Brittany Kelley, Joakim Lundvik and Johanthan McClure.

Alicia Culp, Danni Webb and Valerie West competed as a spelling and vocabulary team, winning fourth place.

Brittany Kelley placed sixth in computer application.

Shae Rinehart placed fifth in current issues and events. Also she garnered first place in science overall and second place in biology.

Joakim Lundvik received first place in chemistry.
