A 32-year-old Snyder man, charged with escape from the Scurry County jail on March 8, Thursday was sentenced to serve 35 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Adam Morales Jr. of 701 16th Street was in custody for possession of a firearm by a felony when he briefly escaped from the jail’s recreation area. Morales, who was cut by razor wire in his escape attempt, was caught less than 150 feet from the jail.
District Judge Ernie Armstrong sentenced Morales to serve 35 years in prison. Morales also was assessed a 20-year sentence on the March 4 firearm possession charge.
The two sentences will be served concurrently. Morales has previous convictions, car burglary in Howard County in 1991 and house burglary in Midland County in 1993.
A five-year probated sentenced for forgery in 1998 being served by Dora Ann Morin, 27, of Lubbock was revoked Thursday.
Morin will now serve two years in a TDCJ state jail facility. The motion to revoke the probation was based on Morin’s failure of a drug test, failure to report to probation authorities and to pay monthly installments.
Omar Padilla, 19 of Thornton, Colo., pleaded guilty to a Jan. 18 charge of possession of marijuana.
Padilla was sentenced to four years in prison, probated for five years with deferred adjudication. He also was fined $750.
