The Lady Tigers remained undefeated in district play after roughing up Lamesa, 10-0, in five innings Tuesday.

Staked an eight-run lead, Ashley Martinez went the distance, allowing two hits and striking out three.

Snyder (13-8, 6-0) plated eight in the bottom of the first inning, taking advantage of four walks to the first five batters to give Martinez plenty of cushion.

Laura Clanton drove in the first run of the inning on a bunt single, and closed out the inning with an RBI double.

Kelsi Johnson had a two-run single and Amber Luecke added a run-scoring single in the inning.

Head coach Darren Pool said the defense did a good job, and is happy with the team’s output at the plate.

“We fielded well,” he said. “Kelsi made a great diving stop, and Ashley threw well. I was really pleased with our hitting.”

Clanton and Luecke both were 2-for-3, and Missy Vasquez was 3-for-3 with a walk, and RBI and three runs scored.

Pool said he is happy the Lady Tigers are undefeated and in the catbird seat in District 3-3A, considering the roster turnover from last season.

“We’re playing -- now we get ready for the next test against Lubbock Cooper,” he said. “It’s a good way to start the second round. It’s a rebuilding year -- we knew that coming in -- and the girls have worked very hard. We’re pleased, but not satisfied.”

Lubbock Cooper will host the Lady Tigers at 1 p.m. Saturday.
