The Snyder boys got off to a fast start in round one of the district golf tournament Tuesday in Sweetwater, with Snyder I taking a 15 stroke lead, and Snyder II sitting in sixth, 11 shots off second place.
Five of the six golfers for the varsity shot under 80 to help Snyder card a 302.
“We definitely played well,” head coach Ricky Hunter said. “Our goal going into Sweetwater was to come out of the first round with the lead. We’ve got two more to go, and we have some good teams in district. It will tighten up.”
Alan Gray and Jake Cottrell each fired a 74 to tie Brady Shivers of Seminole for the low round, and Tanner Bloom shot a 76.
Jay Weaver stroked a 78 and Blake Seale recorded an 88.
Snyder II is just six shots off fifth-place Seminole after an opening round 328.
Cole Robertson carded a 78, Wyl Wiggins and Syd Wiggins each shot an 83, Matt Schoolcraft stroked an 84 and John Whitworth finished with an 87.
