The JV Tiger got revenge against Frenship in the last game of Sweetwater tournament, and rode that momentum to a doubleheader sweep Monday against Merkel.

Both contests against Merkel were five innings.

The JV Tigers (9-4) topped the junior Badgers, 8-4, in the first game. Barrett Bowlin got the victory after pitching threee innings. Zach Garcia threw 1 1-3 and Cade Simpson retired the final two batters.

Chris Smith pitched a complete game in the JV’s 8-3 win in the finale.

Chris Smith went the distance, and Garcia helped out with a three-run homer.

After falling to Frenship, 19-2, earlier in the Sweetwater tournament last weekend, the junior Tigers responded by beating the 4A Tigers, 17-5.

Cale Lancaster pitched four innings for the win and Ryan Mitchell closed out the contest.

Lancaster, Simpson, Orlando Vasquez and Bowlin all had multiple-hit games.

The Junior Tigers will host Wylie at 1 p.m. Saturday in a doubleheader.
