Western Texas College’s rodeo team is participating in the Odessa College rodeo this weekend.
Results from the first round Friday have Clay Bunney of Alberta, Canada in fourth place in bareback riding with a 70, while Jake Marshall of Moree, Australia was in eighth place with a 66.
Cody Horwedel of Park Field, Calif., is in second place in saddle bronc riding with a 77, while Sam Spreadborough of Tamworth, Australia is in third place with a 76.
Freedom, Okla., bull rider Lane Nixon is in 10th place with a 70.
Bruno Paoliello of San Paulo, Brazil is in sixth place in steer wrestling with a 6.7.
Rounding out the men’s scores from Friday is Cody Carter, of Cave Creek, Ariz., in seventh place with partner with an 8.4.
In the women’s events, Sabrina Lay of Omak, Wash., is in first place with a 15.68 in barrel racing, followed by Shiloh Whitaker in fourth with a 16.11, and Tara Woodall of Merkel in sixth place with a 16.16.
Jennifer Weeding of Jordan, Mont., is in eighth place in goat tying with an 8.7.
The team was in slack this morning, said coach Greg Rhodes with finals scheduled for Saturday night.
WTC will host its own rodeo beginning Thursday and continuing through Saturday at the Scurry County Coliseum.
