For the first time in several years, Snyder High School will host the 2004 District 3-3A UIL Academic Literary Meet Saturday and Larry Scott, SHS principal, serves as the district director.

Other schools competing are Sweetwater, Merkel, Lamesa, Denver City and Seminole.

Students will compete in 21 categories <\!m> accounting, calculator applications, computer applications, computer science, current issues and events, literary criticism, mathematics, number sense, ready writing, science, social studies, informative speaking, poetry interpretation, Lincoln Douglas Debate, news writing, feature writing, spelling and vocabulary, persuasive speaking, prose interpretation, editorial writing and headline writing.

A hospitality room for judges and sponsors will be set up by Lynda Patterson. Bettsey Robertson and the Band Boosters will set up a snack bar for students.

The one-act play competition has been is April 3 in Sweetwater.
