The present administrator of the Linden Municipal Hospital in Cass County in East Texas this morning was selected as the new chief executive officer at Cogdell Memorial Hospital.

Carol Hanes is expected to be at her new position at the local hospital in late April or the first of May.

The vote for Hanes was unanimous and it came following a 90-minute executive session at the end of the regular hospital board meeting on a motion by Terry Williams.

During the closed session, the board also met with hospital chief of staff Dr. Bid Cooper. Also attending the session was acting administrator Cheryl Chance.

Hanes’ salary will be $100,000 per year with a $400 per month car allowance. The length of the contract will be negotiated and she will receive the normal benefits of a Scurry County employee.

Hanes was one of two applicants selected by the board for a second interview, interviewing with the board on March 13.

Evan Moore, the administrator of the Comanche Hospital District, withdrew his name from consideration prior to his follow-up interview.

Hanes is a 1960 graduate of Texas A&M at Commerce, and earned her MBA from the University of Dallas in 1986.

She has served as the CEO at Garland Community Hospital, Twin Rivers Regional Hospital and Senatobia Community Hospital in Mississippi.

Among her civic activities is work the chamber of commerce, the American Heart Association and Boy Scouts of America.

The CEO position at Cogdell has been vacant since last December when the hospital ended its 15-year affiliation with Covenant Health Systems.
