Lubbock Cooper scored three runs in each of the first three innings Tuesday, using a pair of long balls and a complete game shutout from pitcher Rhyne Fuller to blank the Tigers, 10-0, in five innings Tuesday in the final pre-district game for Snyder.

“We did not play well. It’s a good thing we got it out of our system,” head coach Charles Bollinger said. “In baseball, you’re going to have some bad days, and (Tuesday) was a bad day.”

Snyder managed just four hits off Fuller, although the Tigers did have two runners in scoring position in the first inning.

Snyder also committed two costly errors behind pitchers Dustyn Williams, who got the loss, Ryan Mitchell and Lico Castillo.

“We had no timely hitting, and we had too many errors -- it was one of those days,” Bollinger said. “It may be a blessing in disguise. This lets the guys know they need to be prepared for every game. Cooper is definitely a good team. They are ranked fifth in the state for a reason, and they came to play.”

Jordan Dea, Isaac Ramon and Eric Martinez each singled, and Alex Neal doubled for the only Snyder hits.

The Tigers open the district schedule Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Moffett Field against the Lamesa Golden Tors.

Ty Collier will get the start.

The JV Tigers fell to their Cooper counterparts, 14-5, as the Tigers used four pitchers, Kel Lancaster, Cade Simpson, Zack Garcia and Barrett Bowlin.
