SEMINOLE -- Ashley Martinez once again carried Snyder through a tough day at the plate, giving up just one hit and striking out 13 in the Lady Tigers’ 1-0 victory over Seminole Friday.

Missy Vasquez led off the fifth inning with a walk, then stole second and scored on a fielder’s choice by Martinez.

Head coach Darren Pool said the Lady Tigers (3-0) were the superior team, but were not selective at the plate. Snyder managed just four hits in the game.

“We struggled offensively -- we’re not being patient and we need to be smart at the plate, especially against a scrappy team like Seminole,” Pool said.

The JV contest was cancelled after one half-inning because of darkness.

The varsity girls were slated for a non-district tilt at Lubbock Monterey at 1 p.m. Saturday, before re-opening the district schedule at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Merkel.
