Verle Fargason
1922-2004
Verle Fargason, longtime Dunn resident, died Tuesday,
March 16, in Bell Haven Nursing Home in Killeen.
Service for Mrs. Fargason, 80, is set for 10:30 a.m.
Saturday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry McAden, minister of
Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hermleigh Cemetery.
Born Oct. 27, 1922 in Depew, Okla., she married Hugh L.
Fargason on Oct. 10, 1945. He died Aug. 11, 1999.
Mrs. Fargason was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She also was preceded in death by an infant son, Kirby.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Harty of Midland;
three sons, Marvin Fargason of Kempner, Kenneth Fargason of Austin and Clifford Fargason
of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Kenneth Provine of Houston and Carl Provine of Portland,
Ore.; two sisters, Lorena Knaak of Pawnee, Okla., and Ruby Ruth Mooney of Oklahoma; 12
grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 this evening at
the funeral home.
Elbert Wilson
1928-2004
BIG SPRING -- Elbert Wilson, the father of Contravis
Wilson of Snyder, died Tuesday, March 16, in Big Spring.
Funeral service for Mr. Wilson, 75, is set for 1 p.m.
Saturday in the Greater Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Mills officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Jackie Warren
Funeral Home.
Born March 28, 1928 in Roxton, he married Arlena Simmons
on Feb. 2, 1951. A U.S. Navy veteran, he moved from Midland to Big Spring in 1961 and
became chef at Big Spring Country Club, retiring in 1993 after 32 years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Woodrow and Gus
Wilson; two sisters, Kate and Havannah Wilson; and one daughter, Rosie Wilson.
Survivors include two other sons, Allen Wilson of
Mesquite and Gregory Wilson of Midland; two daughters, Birdie Wilson of Cannon and Mamie
Wilson of Midland; two stepsons, Javance Johnson and Mark Johnson, both of Midland; one
stepdaughter, Othalene Johnson of Fort Worth; a sister, Alice Jones of Houston; four
brothers, Burnice Wilson of Midland, McDonald Wilson and Joe Wilson, both of Oklahoma City
and Lester Wilson of Big Spring; 28 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Tim Klein
1959-2004
Tim Klein, 45, died early today at his residence in
Snyder.
Services are pending at Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Klein was born on March 12, 1959.
Loren Williams
1928-2004
ALBANY -- Loren Williams, the brother of Dora Blakey of
Snyder, died Monday, March 15.
Funeral service for Mr. Williams, 75, is set for 2 p.m.
Friday in the First Christian Church with the Revs. Bob Manry and Colby Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Godfrey-Neese Funeral
Home.
Born Oct. 15, 1928 in Moran, he graduated from Moran High
School and attended Texas Christian University on a football scholarship, graduating in
1948.
He attended law school at Southern Methodist University
and began his law practice in 1951 in Lamesa. He returned to Shackelford County in 1953
and began 51 years of service in Albany.
He married Betty Lou Brogdon on Nov. 9, 1957. She
preceded him in death.
Mr. Williams served as elder in the First Christian
Church and served on the Albany school board, Shackelford County hospital board and
chamber board. He was honored with the chamber’s Cornerstone Award in 1991 and served
for 22 years as a director of the First National Bank.
Survivors also include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay
and the Rev. Bob Manry of Dallas; Lori and Scott Campbell of McKinney; a son, Robert
Williams of Los Angeles; a brother-in-law, Charley Blakey of Snyder; and two
grandchildren.
Ernest Ammons
1923-2004
FORT WORTH -- Ernest Edward Ammons, the brother of Arlene
Neeper of Snyder, died Saturday, March 13 in Fort Worth.
Services for Mr. Ammons, 80, were held Tuesday in Fort
Worth.
Born in Fisher County in 1923, Mr. Ammons had been a
resident of Fort Worth since 1953 and retired in 1988 after 34 years with General Dynamics
as a flight control engineer. He also farmed in Palo Pinto County.
Mr. Ammons was a B-24 pilot in the Air Force during World
War II and earned his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering form Texas Tech
and his master’s degree from Southern Methodist University. He was a member of the
Ridglea United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ammons was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice
Claire; and his parents, John Wesley and Ona Ammons.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ammons of Fort
Worth; a daughter, Lynn Surovik of Plano; three sons, David Ammons of Chapel Hill, John
Ammons of Dallas and Phillip Ammons of Benton, Ark.; another sister, Dorothy Hall of
Sweetwater; and 10 grandchildren.
Vesta Lynn
1910-2004
BROWNWOOD -- Graveside service for Vesta Cooper Lynn, 93,
is set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Rock Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Justice
officiating.
Mrs. Lynn, the stepmother of Barbara Yorgensen of Snyder,
died Tuesday, March 16, in Brownwood.
Born in Garrett’s Bluff, Mrs. Lynn was a retired
teacher from Milam Elementary in Odessa and was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist
Church.
Survivors include another stepdaughter, Helen Cozby of
Anacoco, La.; two stepsons, Jimmy Lynn and Richard Lynn, both of Strawn; a brother, Ray
Cooper of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Edith Simmons of Lubbock and Doris McAnnally of
Dumas; and two grandchildren.
Audrey Beights
1914-2004
LORAINE -- Audrey May Farris Beights, 89, died Tuesday,
March 16.
Service is set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Loraine First
Baptist Church. The Rev. Bryan Waddell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Loraine
Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Born to Schyler Alfonso and Clara Maud Hallmark Farris on
April 23, 1914 in Fort Worth, she graduated from Merkel High School in 1932.
She married Ira Lawson Beights in December 1935 in
Colorado City. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1992.
She had lived in Mitchell County 66 years and was a
lifelong member of the Loraine First Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara Jean
Beights; a grandson, Franky Sanford Beights; and a daughter-in-law, Fay Nell Beights.
Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Ellen Watson;
three sons, Ira Frank Beights, Larry Steven Beights and Weldon Farris Beights; one sister,
Hasseltine Compton; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
