BURKBURNETT -- The Snyder Tigers reached a major mileston in the baseball program’s history this morning, rolling past Wylie, 11-3, to secure the 1,000th victory in school history.

Head coach Charles Bollinger said he hopes it’s just the first of more milestones to come for the Tigers.

“I’m excited,” he said. “There’s no better way to get the win than to beat a good team like Wylie. The guys played really well.”

The Tigers banged out 10 hits -- all singles -- to help Dustyn Williams earn his second win of the season.

Williams came on in relief of starter Lico Castillo in the third. The game was halted after five innings due to time.

Jordan Dea was 3-for-3, Marcus Villarreal went 2-for-2 and Blake Grimmett, Bradley Price, Hadley Hirt, Eric Martinez and Alex Neal all joined the hit parade.

Snyder (8-2) suffered its second loss of the season in the opener Thursday night, falling to 4A Wichita Falls Rider, 2-0, in a pitcher’s duel.

Ty Collier went the distance, giving up two runs on just three hits while striking out six.

Snyder outhit Rider, 4-3, but could not cross the plate against starter Chris Ingram.

“(Rider’s) tough,” Bollinger said. “Ty pitched an outstanding game.”

Snyder will play Midwest City, Okla. this afternoon, and will battle Pampa at 10:30 Saturday morning.
