Scurry County United Way will be reviewing allocation proposals in April. Any non-profit agency wishing to seek funding from the United Way for its program is welcome to apply.

The requests must be for the budget year 2005.

The proposals will establish the basis upon which the critical allocation decisions will be determined.

A budget review committee will screen each application to determine how each agency serves Scurry County and how the money raised for the agency will be spent.

Each agency is asked to limit their fundraisers to only one per year as a member of the Scurry County United Way, thus giving the agency more valuable time and resources to spend on their programs.

The proposals are to be delivered to the Scurry County United Way office no later than 5 p.m., April 14, to be considered for the year 2005 budget request. All forms must be complete and correct to be considered for an allocation request.

Any agency wishing to apply needs to contact the Scurry County United Way by calling 573-5311 or by mailing a written request to Box 1411, Snyder.

Proposals will be provided to the agencies affiliated with the Scurry County United Way in 2004.

These include Snyder Child Day Care Center, Boys & Girls Club, Gateway Family Services, West Texas Girl Scouts, Buffalo Trail Council of Boy Scouts, Snyder Area Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Scurry County Food Cupboard, American Red Cross of Southwest Texas, Scurry County Youth Outreach and the Snyder Volunteer Fire Department.

Only agencies that provide services to the Scurry County area will be considered. All United Way money raised benefits local agencies. The United Way spends approximately 8 percent of the funds collected for administrative costs.
