Margaret Weaver
1920-2004
Margaret Tipton Weaver, longtime Snyder educator, died
this morning in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a brief illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Weaver, 84, is set for 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member. The Rev.
Buddy Payne, pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens
under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Feb. 29, 1920, a leap year, in Jacksonville, Texas,
she graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1937 and received a bachelors degree
from McMurry University in 1941 and a masters degree from McMurry in 1954.
She married Frank Weaver on Aug. 3, 1940 in Rusk. Also a
longtime Snyder teacher, coach and administrator, Mr. Weaver died Sept. 28, 1997.
Mrs. Weaver was a teacher in the Snyder public schools
for 32 years, mostly teaching the fifth grade. She was a life member of the United
Methodist Church, a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society, Alturian Daughters, Martha Ann
Womans Club and Cogdell Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Weaver also had served as Lucky 13
sponsor and a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and
Chris Weaver of San Antonio; a sister, Ruth Shurley of Sonora; three grandchildren and
their spouses, Todd and Resa Weaver of Plano, Ann and Darren Todd of Woodward, Okla., and
Shana Weaver of San Antonio; and four great-grandchildren, Braden and Conner Todd of
Woodward and Mason and Mitchell Weaver of Plano.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at
Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Herminia Arellano
1911-2004
Herminia Arellano died Saturday, March 13, at her home in
Hermleigh.
Mass for Mrs. Arellano, 92, was set for 2 p.m. today in
St. Johns Catholic Church in Hermleigh. Burial was to follow in the Hermleigh
Cemetery under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary was held Sunday.
Born Oct. 31, 1911 in Waco, she married Jose Arellano on
June 6, 1931 in Banquete, Texas. He died in 1976.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Concepcion
and Jesus Garza; a son, Eduardo Arellano in 1968; a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Arellano in
1974; an infant son, Juan Jose Arellano in 1932; a great-great-grandson, Jimmy Luna Jr. in
2003; and three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Elida
Lillie and Albento Conde of Hermleigh, and Minerva and Ruben Trevino of
Banquete; a special grandson who lived with her, Eduardo Eddie Arellano Jr. of
Hermleigh; a sister, Fransisca Salinas of Troy; seven other grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Winnie McQueen
1912-2004
COLEMAN -- Winnie McQueen, the cousin and sister-in-law
of Bertha McQueen of Snyder, died Saturday, March 13, in Lawton, Okla.
Funeral service for Mrs. McQueen, 91, is set for 11 a.m.
Tuesday in the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with David Ross Cathey officiating. Burial will
follow in the Brown Ranch Cemetery.
Born Nov. 21, 1912 in Coleman County, she was a graduate
of Coleman High School and was married to Earl McQueen who died in Italy in 1944 during
World War II.
Mrs. McQueen received her bachelors degree from
Mary Hardin Baylor and her masters degree from Texas Tech.
She was an elementary teacher and later a home economics
teacher in high school, teaching in Mukewater, Burkett, Santa Anna, Post and Ballinger.
She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma and the Elm Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlin and
Florence Cathey; four sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and
Sandy McQueen of Lawton; two grandsons, Kurt McQueen of Lawton and Karl McQueen of Wichita
Falls; two brothers, Roy Cathey of Sanuarita, Ariz., and David Ross Cathey of Lindale.
