The Snyder Tigers got one the hard way, rallying from a first-inning deficit to earn a 12-9 triumph over a solid Levelland squad in a slugfest Tuesday.
“I’m proud of the way we came back,” head coach Charles Bollinger said. “Levelland is a good team. It was a good win for us -- we showed we can come from behind and win.”
The Tigers (6-1) banged out 13 hits to Levelland’s nine, with both clubs committing three errors.
Down 8-7, first baseman Alex Neal smashed a three-run homer to put Snyder up for good. Neal was 2-for-4 as four Tigers had multiple hit games.
Blake Grimmett, Isaac Ramon and Eric Martinez also collected two hits each, and drove in a run apiece, and Jordan Dea delivered an RBI double.
Bradley Price, Hadley Hirt, Marcus Villarreal and Lico Castillo each had a base knock.
Starter Castillo struggled, allowing five earned runs on seven hits while fanning two.
“They have a 300-foot right field fence, and we made a few mistakes,” Bollinger said, adding that the defense allowed three unearned runs to score while Castillo was on the mound.
Dustyn Williams pitched two scoreless innings, not allowing a run, and Ty Collier got the final six outs to earn the save.
The Tigers open the Snyder Tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. against Dumas.
