Gene Foster
1933-2004
CONRAD, Mont. -- Gene T. Foster, the mother of Jan Hayley
of Snyder, died Friday, March 5.
A memorial service for Mrs. Foster, 70, was held Monday
in the Praise Tabernacle in Conrad. The Rev. Harold Jackson officiated.
Born June 3, 1933 in Sweetwater, she married Lee Sears in
1946 in Sweetwater and James Foster in 1952 in Sweetwater. Both preceded her in death as
did her parents, Robert and Jewel Gilbreth; a brother, Denver Gilbreth; and a sister,
Madge Jones.
Mrs. Foster was employed by Village Supermarket in
Sweetwater for 13 years. She moved to Conrad in 1987 and was employed by Andy and Marian
Kovatch and by Town Pump. She retired in 1998.
Survivors include three other daughters, Susie Gartman of
Big Spring, Donna Larson of Fairfield, Mont. and Channin Vandiver of Conrad; two brothers,
Floyd Gilbreth of Phoenix and Lewis Gilbreth of Odessa; a sister, Judie Sapp of Sand
Springs, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
T.F. Davis
1917-2004
POST -- T.F. Davis, a native of Scurry County, died
Monday, March 8, in the Golden Plains Care Center.
Funeral service for Mr. Davis, 86, is set for 2 p.m.
Wednesday in the Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Blacklock, pastor of the
Cowboy Church in Justiceburg, officiating. Burial will follow in the Terrace Cemetery
under the direction of Justice-Mason Funeral Home.
Born April 10, 1917 at Ennis Creek in Scurry County to
Isiah and Mertie Belle (Martin) Davis, he married Ruby Nell Blacklock on July 20, 1935 in
Godley. She died in 1996.
Mr. Davis Moved to Garza County in 1940 to farm and
ranch. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he returned to Post to work for
General American Oil Co. as a pumper, retiring in 1980. Mr. Davis was a charter member of
Trinity Baptist Church.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Leon Davis in
2000; and by nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel
and Kay Davis of Fort Worth and Leslie and Linda Davis of Post; a daughter and son-in-law,
Carolyn and Elvin Allen of Post and formerly of Snyder; a daughter-in-law, Marie Davis of
Post; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Mary Turner
1916-2004
Mary Marie Turner of Snyder died Monday, March 8, in
Kristi Lee Manor in Colorado City.
Funeral service for Mrs. Turner, 87, is set for 2 p.m.
Wednesday in the Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. LeRoy Ochoa
officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Nov. 27, 1916 in Cherry Vale, Kan., she married Fred
Turner on Sept. 14, 1935 in Longview. He preceded her in death as did her parents, Samuel
David and Edna Agnes McCormac, and a son, Norman Turner.
Mrs. Turner was a retired nurse and a Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Florabell Stephens and
Darlene Turner, both of Snyder, Mary Reese of Irving and Donna Gallatin of Ketchikan,
Alaska; two sons, Fred Turner Jr. of Odessa and Phillip Turner of Capitan, N.M.; a
brother, Chester McCormac of Wichita, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
