A possible tax break for senior citizens is on tonight’s board agenda for Western Texas College.
Scurry County approved the tax freeze for residents o ver 65 and for the disabled, and the WTC board will consider similar action when it meet at 7 tonight.
The commissioners cour voted in favor of the tax ceiling at its meeting on March 1 rather than call for a petition leading to a new election.
In the September general election, 82 percent of Scurry County voters were in favor of the tax freeze, which has been in effect for Snyder ISD for several years.
Additionally, the trustees will consider approval of revisions to the board policy dealing employment, contract, dismissal and salary pertaining to professional personnel. Action items also call for revisions to the 2003-2004 and approval of the 2004-2005 school calendar, and additions of the athletic complex and visitor center to the Johnson Controls contract.
In other business, the board will hear information regarding the 12th annual West Texas High School Art Competition.
