After suffering their first loss of the season under controversial circumstances Friday, the Tigers responded with a pair of convincing wins Saturday at the Frenship baseball tournament.
A game-ending interference call left the Tigers (5-1) on the short end of a 4-3 contest with Perryton Friday. Snyder rebounded by easily topping Borger and Plainview.
In the first game Saturday, the Tigers staked a 5-0 lead after two innings to get by Borger, 8-4.
Jordan Dea continued his torrid spring, going 2-4 with a three-run bomb and five RBIs.
Dustyn Williams got the victory in his first start of the year, allowing three runs on five hits through 4 1-3 innings.
Blake Grimmett, who added an RBI single, worked the final 2 2-3 to close it out.
Bradley Price had an RBI double in the opener.
The Tigers really poured it on the nightcap, stomping Plainview, 14-2, as the team pounded out 12 hits and starter Ryan Mitchell and Collier combined on a three-hitter.
Five Tigers had a multiple hit game against Plainview, with Price collecting two RBI and two hits. Grimmett, Dea, Eric Martinez and Isaac Ramon also had two hits each.
Mitchell worked the first four innings, giving up just one hit and one unearned run while striking out two.
Collier came in for the final three, giving up two hits and an unearned run while striking out seven batters.
“I felt really good about the way we played,” head coach Charles Bollinger said. “We hit the ball hard an d our defense and pitching were good all day.”
The Tigers travel to Levelland Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game.
