The Snyder girls garnered third place in the Midland golf tournament, carding a 372-358 730.

Despite shaving 14 strokes off their first-round leading total, the girls dropped behind Pecos, which shot a 350 on Saturday, and tournament-champion Monahans, which improved by 39 shots on the second day.

“We have been in the lead or at least very close to the lead after the first day in several tournaments this year,” head golf coach Ricky Hunter said. “We must learn how to finish. All of our tournaments are at least 36 holes, but we have only been playing solid for 18 holes.”

Brooke Jackson led the way for the Lady Tigers with an 86-85 171.

Cami Trout shot a 96-87 183, while Christi Williams had the biggest improvement between rounds with a 101-87 188.

Ashley Luecke carded a 91-100 191, while Shannon Mangis stayed consistent with a 99-99 198.

Hunter said the Midland tournament offered a good idea of what the regional tournament will look like.

The girls will be in Andrews this week for the last non-district tourney, and will open district play April 1 in Lamesa.
