Mr. Kirkland
1917-2004
AUSTIN -- Raymond Kirkland, the father of Peggy Chandler
of Snyder, died Monday, March 1.
Services for Mr. Kirkland, 87, were held Wednesday with
the Rev. Ray Knowles officiating.
Born Jan. 9, 1917 in Stephenville to Willis and Elry
Kirkland, he married Mavis Kirkland on Aug. 8, 1938 in Sweetwater.
Mr. Kirkland had lived in Snyder prior to moving to
Austin in 1966. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and was preceded in death by a
daughter, Joyce Hill.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mavis Kirkland of
Austin; two other daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Skip Sibert of Austin and Doris and
Floyd Red Sutton of Hobbs, N.M.; a son-in-law, Doyle Chandler of Snyder; a
sister Wanda Glidewell of Zavalla; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren
Ricky L. Salazar
1984-2004
VERNON -- Ricky Lee Salazar, 19, of Stamford, formerly of
Vernon, died Friday, March 5, in a Stamford hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at
Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Oren Key officiating. Interment will be in Wilbarger
Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home of Vernon.
Salazar was born Nov. 12, 1984 in Haskell, a son of Ricky
Salazar and Delores Martinez. He was a 2003 graduate of Harrold High School where he
played football, basketball, track, and wrestling. He was on the yearbook committee and
was a football scholarship nominee. He had been a resident of Vernon until late in 2003
when he moved to Stamford where he was currently working for a furniture store.
Ricky is survived by his father, Ricky and stepmother,
Karen Salazar of Vernon; his mother, Delores Martinez of Snyder; his paternal grandmother,
Carmen Salazar of Vernon, his maternal grandparents, Joe and Lucy Lopez of Snyder; his
paternal great-grandmother, Anestacia Garza of Taylor; two brothers, Leon Salazar and
Ysmael Salazar, both of Vernon; two sisters, Amanda Salazar and Gabriell Salazar, both of
Vernon; one nephew; two nieces; two stepbrothers, Tommy Hendrix and John Hendrix, both of
Vernon; two stepsisters, Kelsey Hendrix of Vernon and Veronica Selvera of Snyder.
Rosary will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home
in Vernon.

SAN ANGELO -- Graveside service for Anthony Joseph
Martinez, infant son of Dorian and Lindsay Martinez, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday in
Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Emmett Corker officiating. The baby died
Thursday.
Survivors include an older sister, Briana; his
grandparents, Paula Summerlin, Rickey and Lori Summerlin and Ron and Luita Nobles; his
great-grandparents, Marshall and JoAnn Gregory, Barbara Summerlin, Sherwood and Nancy
Hart, E.C. and Mary Nobles of Snyder and Mildred Nobles; his great-great-grandmother,
Blanche Southmayd; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
