Scurry County business owners are facing changes in the requirements for submitting personal property information to the Scurry County Appraisal District. Many business owners may have already received their 2004 Business Personal Property Rendition Form.

Senate Bill 340 was passed by the 78th Texas Legislature and became effective Jan. 1. The new law imposes tough penalties on those who fail to file an annual report of their personal property with the district. Additionally, it imposes tougher penalties on those who fail to file an annual report of their personal property with the district and vigorous punishment for those who attempt to evade taxes through fraudulent or incomplete reporting.

Property subject to rendition includes office equipment, vehicles, vessels, aircraft and inventory.
