Nona Bunch
1925-2004
Nona Pearl Bunch, longtime Snyder resident, died this
morning in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Bunch, 79, is set for 2 p.m.
Saturday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Henson, pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of
Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 7, 1925 in OBrien, she married Olin Bunch
on Nov. 14, 1947 in Vernon.
Mrs. Bunch was a homemaker and a member of the First
Baptist Church. At one time, Mrs. Bunch operated the Newcomers Welcome Wagon in Snyder and
worked part-time for Feather Printing. She later worked in customer relations for
Furrs Supermarkets and for Lawrence IGA.
Survivors include her husband, Olin Bunch of Snyder; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Joan Bunch of Snyder and Win and Pam Bunch of
Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Mike Phelan of Allen; three brothers and
sisters-in-law, Morris and Lorene Southall of Brownwood, Berle and Wanda Southall of
Euless and Don and Iona Southall of Potosi; grandchildren, Carly and Melissa Clark of
Austin, Lindsey Bunch of San Marcos, Stacey Bunch of Lubbock and Dylan Bunch of Snyder;
and a great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Clark of Austin.
Mary Greenfield
1916-2004
Mary Mayo Greenfield, a lifelong resident of Hermleigh,
died Wednesday, March 3, in Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Graveside service for Mrs. Greenfield, 87, is set for 2
p.m. Friday in the Pyron Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Torres, Home Hospice chaplain,
officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born May 9, 1916 in Hermleigh, she married Gaither Mayo
on Oct. 4, 1933 in Snyder. He died Dec. 18, 1977. She married Alton Greenfield who also
preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann and
Jimmy Cooper of Santa Fe, N.M.; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Linda Mayo of
Hermleigh; a sister, Maurine Wall of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Alicia Knight of
Bolder, Colo., Darrell Mayo of Hermleigh and LeAnn Freytag of Halletsville.
Jesse Evans
1920-2004
LUBBOCK -- Jesse Carl Evans Jr., a former Snyder
resident, died Tuesday, March 2 at his Lubbock residence.
Graveside service for Mr. Evans, 83, is set for 10 a.m.
Friday in Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the First
Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Born in Schleicher County, he was a graduate of Mertzon
High School and earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Texas Tech. He
was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and served in the Air Force Reserves for
28 years.
He married Frances Meharg on Aug. 1, 1947 in San Angelo.
Mr. Evans was a school teacher in San Angelo and Snyder before moving to Waco where he was
in the insurance business for 10 years.
Mr. Evans moved to Lubbock in 1965 and taught special
education in Petersburg and Ralls, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the Lions Club and First Christian
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Evans of Lubbock; a
daughter, Linda Taylor of Lubbock; a son, Robert Evans of Fort Worth; a brother, Don Evans
of Houston; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Bill Farmer
1938-2004
MESA, Ariz. -- Billy Don Farmer, a former Ira resident,
died Wednesday, Feb. 25, at his home in Mesa.
Memorial service for Mr. Farmer, 65, is set for 2 p.m.
Saturday in the First Methodist Church in Casper, Wyo. Burial will follow in the Highland
Cemetery.
Born Dec. 11, 1938 in Scurry County, he married Sue Ann
Mason on May 19, 1958.
A 1957 graduate of Ira High School, he moved to New
Mexico where he started a 35-year career with Dowell. He spent most of his career in the
Rocky Mountain area.
Mr. Farmer was a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic
Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Paradise Valley Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Farmer of Casper, Wyo.;
two daughters and son-in-law, Leslie and John Pfiefer of Casper and Shauna and Tim Ligget
of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Carmon Farmer of Queen Creek,
Ariz.; a sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Kelton Clark of Ira; six grandchildren; and
four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Whit and Mattie
Farmer; and a brother J.H. (Moose) Farmer.

Byrle Rigsby
1912-2004
ANDREWS -- Byrle Rigsby, the uncle of Lois Marie Eicke of
Snyder, died Tuesday, March 2, in Lubbock.
Funeral service for Mr. Rigsby, 91, was set for 4 p.m.
today in the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Moody Conner officiating. Burial was to
follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Born Aug. 5, 1912 in Port Lavaca, he married Valerie
Kruse on May 3, 1936 in Snyder. They lived in Carlsbad, N.M. and Lubbock before moving to
Andrews in 1949 where he was the owner of City Body Shop until his retirement in 1980.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Rigsby of Andrews; a
daughter, Betty Knight of Lubbock; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
Posie Blackwell
1917-2004
ABILENE -- Rosa Pearl Posie Blackwell, a
native of Scurry County, died Tuesday, March 2.
Graveside service for Mrs. Blackwell, 86, is set for 10
a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park. A celebration service will follow at 11 a.m. in the
St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was a member for more than 60 years.
Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Born March 4, 1917 in Fluvanna to Jesse and Agnes Wilson,
she moved to Abilene in 1926 and was a graduate of Abilene High School.
She married Howard O. Blackwell on April 20, 1940 in San
Angelo. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Hoffman of Denver; a
son, John Blackwell of Abilene; a sister, Marie Hammett of Lafayette, La.; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Clarence Neinast
1913-2004
LITTLEFIELD -- Funeral service for Clarence Neinast, the
father of Sandra Henderson of Hermleigh, is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday in the St. Martin
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in
Littlefield Memorial Park under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home.
Mr. Neinast, 90, died Tuesday, March 2, in University
Medical Center in Lubbock following an automobile accident in Littlefield.
Born Oct. 27, 1913 in Marlin, he married Ella Pauline
Fichte on April 11, 1938 in Olney.
Mr. Neinast was a farmer in Stamford from 1940 until 1957
when he moved to Littlefield where he farmed until his retirement in 1973. He then worked
at a service station for about five years.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Martin Lutheran
Church where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Neinast of Littlefield;
another daughter, Dixie Jaquess of Littlefield; a brother, Wesley Neinast of Littlefield;
a sister, Nell Smith of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Samuel Terral
1934-2004
LUBBOCK -- Samuel L. Poppy Terral, a former
resident of Snyder, died Tuesday, March 2.
Funeral service for Mr. Terral, 69, is set for 2 p.m.
Friday in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial
Park.
Born Nov. 20, 1934 in Malta, he married Myrna Walker on
Dec. 20, 1953 in Snyder.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he went to work for the U.S. Post
Office in Snyder in 1957 and moved to Lubbock in 1966. He retired as a career mail carrier
in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna Terral of Lubbock; a
daughter, Jann Goodpasture of Sugar Land; two sons, Mark and Mitch Terral, both of
Lubbock; two brothers, Clarence and Leonard Terral, both of California; two sisters, Jo
Powell and Lucille Watson, both of Texarkana; four nieces from Snyder, Janell Bearden,
Ladell Gannaway, Shirley Miller and Pat Guynes; two nephews, Terry McCright of Snyder and
Tim McCright of McKinney; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
