DeEtta Musgrove
1908-2004
SWEETWATER -- DeEtta Musgrove, the mother of Jane Scott
of Snyder, died Saturday, Feb. 28, in Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, N.M.
Service for Mrs. Musgrove is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in
the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery.
Born on May 26, 1908, Mrs. Musgrove had lived in
Sweetwater most of her life, and had worked in the welfare department for many years
before moving to Carlsbad some five years ago.
Survivors include two sons, R.D. Samuels of Kansas City
and Robert Musgrove of Minnesota; another daughter, Jean Evans of Carlsbad; 11
grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation is set from 7-8 this evening at the funeral
home.
Jake Jacobs
1917-2004
LUFKIN -- Graveside service for Clark Jake
Jacobs, 87, of Lufkin, formerly of Lake Mexia will be held Thursday, March 4, 2004, at 4
p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas with Church of Christ Elder Steve Bartlett
officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service.
Mr. Jacobs was born January 6, 1917 in Indian Gap, Texas
to the late Aubrey A. and Lila (Shipman) Jacobs and died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in Lufkin,
where he had resided for the past three years.
Mr. Jacobs was a graduate of Texas A&M University in
1941, and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy and reached the rank of Lt.
Senior Grade. He commanded a control ship during the D-Day landing on Omaha Beach during
World War II. After the war he began his career as an engineer with the United States Soil
Conservation Service. He later became the County Engineer for Limestone County, a position
he held for 20 years. After retiring from the county, he began working for Frost
Construction until his second retirement.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and
Paula Jacobs of Lufkin; two grandsons, Patrick Jacobs and wife, Jeanette of Lufkin and
John Jacobs of Austin; one great-granddaughter, Kathryn Elise Jacobs of Lufkin; brother
and sister-in-law, Ross and Betty Jacobs of Dallas; sisters, Angelea Carey and husband,
Arvis and Jamie Gilbreath, all of Snyder; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Wilson Jacobs
in 1995; his son, Larry Jacobs in 1999; his sister Edith Jacobs Beavers; and brother,
Audrey A. Jacobs.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
Wednesday evening at the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home in Lufkin.
