As one of the largest energy transportation and storage companies in America operating more than 35,000 miles of natural gas and products pipelines and approximately 90 terminals, it is no surprise that Kinder Morgan, one of Scurry County’s largest employers, tops the list of tax-paying entities.

According to the county tax assessor’s office, Kinder Morgan CO2 LP pays $633,618 in taxes to Scurry County, $312,292 to Western Texas College and $1,879,269 to Snyder Independent School District.

Two of the other top taxpayers in the county are Patterson-UTI and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.

Patterson-UTI is billed $404,703 from the county and $199,466 from WTC. Its largest bill is from the Snyder ISD at $1,202,089.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation paid $203,047 to Scurry County, $100,076 to WTC and $268,497 to Snyder ISD.

For Scurry County, fourth and fifth top taxpayers are Occidental Permian Limited with a levy of $153,201 and Kinder Morgan CO2 at $142,534.

Other top taxpayers to WTC are Occidental Permian Limited with a tax bill of $75,508 and Kinder Morgan CO2 paying $70,251.09.

Snyder ISD also collects $493,644 from Occidental Permian Limited and $423,369 from Kinder Morgan.

The city top taxpayer at $19,006 is Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Oncor Electric follows it in second with a city tax levy of $15,097.

The city’s remaining three t op tax-payers are United Supermarkets with a tax bill of $12,958.70, Y-Z Systems with tax bill of $9,919 and Wal-Mart Stores of Texas at $9,605.

Ira Independent School District’s top five taxpayers are Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, $334,655; Sharp Image Energy, $74,148; Wagner Oil Company, $51,699.75; RUWCO Oil and Gas Corporation, $50,362; and Oncor Electric, $36,454.

Hermleigh Independent School District’s top five taxpayers are Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railway Company, $59,321; Southwestern Bell, $26,310; Plains All American, $11,966; Chaparral Pipeline Company, $10,146; and Oncor Electric, $9,111.75.
