The Psi Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently held its formal spring induction ceremony for new members in the Fine Arts Theatre at Western Texas College.

Inductees included Ashlye Amox, Desiree Bates, Joyce Boyd, Edna Bradbury, Glenn Burns, Amanda Calley, Katy Chester, Lindsey Davis, Jacqueline BelBosque, Andra Dunham, Jeremy Eaton, Forentino Escobedo, Lizath Fernandes, Shelley Fisk, Laticia Fuentes, Kimberly Garcia, Landon Gilbert, Brenda Guerrero, Katie Haggard, Elizabeth Hernandez, Jeff Hernandez, Amber House, Rustem Ibrashev, Kazuhiro Inoue, Ashley Jenkins, LuCindy Johnson, Sannon Jones, Rusty Josey, Hisashi Kawakami and Melissa Klein.

Others are Meggan Langham, Rachel Leach, Jessica Martinez, Katherine Martinez, Sarina McCauley, Misty McClure, Chrisopher McLeod, Gregory McQuirk, Joshua Payne, Lisa Parker, Rebecca Phillips, Bradley Price, Tara Price, Matthew Priddy, Wendy Proffitt, Laura Pully, Tiffany Quick, Evan Reeves, Donald, Robertson, Russell Scott, Celeigh Sterling, Matthew Stokes, Tate Stratton, Kasey Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Rhonda Thomas, Michael Ulm, Stephanie Wardlaw, and Kristin York.

Dr. Jim Clifton gave the invocation. He is the Dean of Student Services. Psi Zeta President, Casey Crawford, welcomed guests and introduced the speaker, WTC president, Dr. Gregory Williams.

Psi Zeta officers, Nathan Shrode, Jeff Neal, Stacy Garcia, Krisi Early, and Melissa Walls introduced the Standards and Ideals of Phi Theta Kappa. Nathan Shrode presented the new members.

Each member received a golden stole and membership certificate after reciting the Phi Theta Kappa oath led by Casey Crawford.

Next, each member signed the official membership book and lit a blue candle signifying knowledge and a commitment to the four hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship.

The benediction was offered by Associate Professor of Science, Troy Lilly.

Following the induction ceremony, a reception was held for inductees and guests in the foyer of the Fine Arts Theatre.

Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society of two-year colleges. An invitation for membership in PTK is extended to students each semester who have accumulated 12 or more college-level credit hours, who are working toward an associates degree, and who have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
