Hermleigh ISD will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school library.
Supt. Marvin Beaty will update the board on several items, including the results of a land survey.
Beaty said the survey determined that the school district owns approximately three acres of land that no one was aware it owned, and is now being farmed by an individual.
“We’ve got projects ongoing and we just needed to be sure where our boundaries are,” said Beaty, adding that the roads around the school facilities are not even in the proper location.
Trustees also will hear a report from Beaty concerning athletic facilities and needed equipment for various sports programs.
“In visiting with Jason (Brewer, the new athletic director and head coach), we’ve identified a ton of equipment we need for our kids,” said Beaty.
Action items include approval of the school calendar for 2004-2005, waiver days for in-service for next year, and the resignations of two instructors.
Beaty said computer teacher Ron Roberts and English teacher Eric Simpson have submitted resignations effective at the end of this school year.
“We’ve hired Christy Brewer, wife of Jason, to teach English, and we’ve got interviews set up for the other position,” Beaty said.
Trustees also will formally set the spring trustee election for May 15, and approve the district’s textbook committee and participation in the Region 14 food purchasing cooperative.
Principal Clarence Spieker will give his monthly reports and recognize the students of the month.
