Snyder High School student Joel Tarin claimed the Best of Show award at the 12th Annual West Texas High School Art Competition held Feb. 21 at Western Texas College.
His Bubble in a Tunnel was entered in Division 1, two dimension category.
Ninth and tenth grade winners in Division I, two-dimensional category are, first place, Jessi Gorman, Jim Ned High School, Balanced; second place, Matt Boxkemper, Jim Ned, The Look of Tomorrow: and third place, Haylee Allen, Jim Ned, Little Moments.
Merit awards were presented to Clint Conley, Tyler Walters and Emma Dyer, all Jim Ned; Elliott Holloway, Merkel, Stephanie Fenner, Hawley; Jared Ferguson and Mitch Bell, both Corrigan-Camden; and Brittney Farquhar, Colorado High Schol.
Division I ninth and tenth grade winners in the three-dimensional category are first place, Bradley Chance Bowlin, Ira High School, Coil Pot; second place, Tanya Jimenez, Hawley, Jug of Jute; and third place, Daniel Salazar, Colorado, Vase.
Kristin Akins of Hawley received a merit award.
Eleventh and twelfth grade winners in Division 2, two-dimensional category, are first-place tie, Dustin Darby, Jim Ned, Celebrity Mole, and Whitney Tittle, Merkel, Meet the Badgers; second place, John Starnes, Jim Ned, Cowboy Handy; and third place, Naomi Loredo, Merkel, Maria.
Merit awards were presented to Matt Blanton, Jordan Wright (2), Jessica Miller, Cody Thomas and John Starnes, all Jim Ned; Julia Sayre and Melissa Thorne, both Hawley; Daniel Baldwin, Shawna Hollabaugh and Kim Ely, all Cooper; and Jonathan Bednarz, Junction.
Others are Joel Contreras (2) and April Maxey, both of Corrigan-Camden; Martin Garcia, Post; Tamara Gore, Sudan; Whitney Tittle and Manuel Ortega, both Merkel; Mindy Gore (2), Sudan; Al Melendrez, Sweetwater; and for a video, Tamara Gore and Macie Lance, both Sudan.
Eleventh and twelfth grade Division 2 winners in the three-dimensional category include first place, Temeka Wells, Snyder, Clay Calamody; second place, Carlos Leanos, Colorado, Coil Vase; and Nicolette Traylor, Snyder, Coral of the Sea.
Merit award recipients are David Blake, Clyde; Kyle Murphy, Cooper; Janie Garcia, Snyder; and Katie Lujan, Junction.
