The Snyder thinclads took third at the first track meet of the season at Frenship Saturday, using nine top-five finishes to best every other 3A school in the field.
Snyder scored 81 points, five behind host Frenship. Amarillo Palo Duro won the meet with 113 points.
“I’m extremely pleased,” head coach Roger White said. “I was hoping to score 50-60 points and we had 81. Our times and distances were right where they need to be.”
Malcome Wells, Zach Cain, Garrett Pinson and Justin Boyd took home the gold in the 800M relay, while Wells, Boyd, Pinson and Jesus Juarez were second in the 400.
Wells clocked in under 11 seconds to take the silver in the 100M dash, and Cain grabbed a silver in the 300 hurdles. Pinson was fourth in that event and earned a second-place finish in the 110 hurdles.
Boyd got the bronze in the 200M run, while Demetrius Brandon was third in the shot put.
Juarez captured fourth in the long jump and Marcus Villarreal was sixth.
Snyder had some competitors on the diamond at Moffett and did not enter in a handful of field events.
“A couple of ifs and buts and we had a chance at winning the thing,” White said.
The Tigers will host the Snyder meet Saturday.
