Texas Tech honored former Red Raider basketball coach Polk Robison, 92, before the Texas A&M game Saturday, presenting a bronze bust of Robison that will be permanently displayed in the McHaney-Robison Hall of Honor at United Spirit Arena.

Robison also was honored at a banquet Friday, and the players from his four conference championship teams and the first Tech team to play in the NCAA tournament were in attendance.

Former Snyder and Tech head coach Gene Gibson attended the ceremonies, as did Snyder native Ned Underwood, who played for Red Raiders from 1953-1957. He served as the captain of the 1956-57 club.

Current Red Raider coach Bob Knight spoke to the group before the banquet.

Texas Tech won the Border Conference from 1954-1956 and claimed the Southwest Conference crown in 1961.
