John Sneed

1919-2004

John A. Sneed of Fluvanna died Friday, Feb. 20, in Snyder Oaks Care Center.

Funeral service for Mr. Sneed, 84, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Don Campbell of Lubbock, former minister of the Fluvanna Church of Christ, was to officiate. Burial was to follow in the Fluvanna Cemetery.

Born July 26, 1919 in Wingate, he married Hazel White Morris on July 19, 1984 in Roby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Louie Holder Sneed; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Sneed of Fluvanna; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Tip Baker of Fluvanna; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Barb White of Arlington and J.B. and Patty White of Capitan, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Betty Bullock of Mexia; a brother, Hassie Sneed of Dermott; a sister, Ione Baughn of Snyder; four grandchildren, Melanie Hoover of Arlington, Jay Martin of Bastrop, Mark Martin of San Angelo and Jason White of Capitan; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

 


Curlie Daniels

1930-2004

Curlie Daniels, longtime Snyder resident, died Sunday, Feb. 22, in Snyder Healthcare Center.

Graveside service for Mrs. Daniels, 73, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Snyder Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.

 


Walter Johnson

1931-2004

COLEMAN -- Walter Johnson Jr., the brother-in-law of Faye Harrell of Snyder, died Friday, Feb. 20.

Funeral service for Mr. Johnson, 72, was set for 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Stanislaw, minister, officiating. Burial was to follow in the City of Coleman Cemetery.

Born April 18, 1931 in Fayette County, Texas. He married Elaine Lloyd on May 11, 1973 in Sonora.

A resident of Fort Stockton from 1972-98, Mr. Johnson retired as an oil field driller and tool pusher and moved to Lampasas. He was a Korean War veteran and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Johnson of Lampasas; his mother-in-law, Oleta Harrell of Lampasas; a son, Othie Lloyd of Shawnee, Okla.; a brother, Robert Johnson of Flatonia; two sisters, Evelyn Reese of Houston and Wilma Christian of Weimer; three aunts, Minnie Seeburger of Flatonia, Pauline Brown of El Paso and Gladys Susen of Smithville; several nephews, including David Harrell of Snyder; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

 


Jesse Martinez

1941-2004

AMARILLO – Jesus “Jesse” Martinez, the brother of Eudelia Armendariz of Snyder, died Saturday, Feb. 21.

Rosary for Mr. Martinez, 62, is set for 7 this evening in the Schooler Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Schooler Chapel with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Born in Coahuila, Mexico, he married Lucy Kennedy in Amarillo in 1993. A resident of Amarillo for 37 years, he retired from Pantex after 31 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Guillermo Martinez, in 1988; and a sister, Elisa Zamora, in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Martinez of Amarillo; four sons, Jessie Martinez Jr. of Houston, Willie Martinez and Dickie Martinez, both of Brownwood, and Mark Martinez of Haskell; two daughters, Darcy Neill and Sara Kennedy, both of Amarillo; another sister, Elinda Martinez of Amarillo; two brothers, Noe Martinez of Plainview and Enrique Martinez of Cresthill, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
