The varsity Tigers finished third at the Burleson Tournament over the weekend, helped along by solid play from first medalist Jay Weaver.

Weaver shot a 77-73 150 to lead the Tigers’ finish with a two-round total of 648.

“This was a great tournament for Jay,” head coach Ricky Hunter said. “He was able to put two great days together and win the medalist.”

Snyder shot a 325 in the opening round and stroked a 323 on the second day to finish 15 shots behind tournament winner Creekview and 11 behind runner-up Wichita Falls Rider.

Jake Cottrell had a consistent tournament, carding an 83-82 165. Alan Gray posted an 82-85 167, Wyl Wiggins shot an 87-83 170 and Cole Roberson finished the tournament with an 83-91 174.

“We are a very young team and still a long way from having our top five guys with a secure spot,” Hunter said.” From week to week, our top five and our second five change readily.”

Hunter hopes the team will get its top five set soon.

“We are looking for two or three more guys to step up and play more consistent.”

The JV boys finished in 12th place at Abilene, firing a 333-337 670.

JV scores: Blake Seale, 82-80 162; Matt Schoolcraft 82-84 166; Syd Wiggins 89-82 171; Tanner Bloom 80-92 172; John Whitworth 97-91 188.
