Luann Burleson filed the necessary papers Thursday afternoon to seek her sixth term on the Snyder school board of trustees.
Burleson, the wife of Snyder physician James Burleson, was first elected to the board in April 1987, and is completing 15 years on the board.
The Burlesons have two children. Jamie is a graduate of SHS and resides in Nashville, Tenn., while Erin is a senior at SHS.
The term of Cathy Peoples, trustee since being appointed in 2001 to fill an unexpired term, also expires this year.
Peoples has indicated she also will seek another term.
Both represent at-large positions.
At Western Texas College, both incumbent trustees, Carolyn Barbee and Dr. Jay Kidd, have filed for another term.
Both will be seeking their third six-year term on the board.
Barbee represents Place 3, while Dr. Kidd represents Place 4. Both were first elected to the WTC board in 1992.
There are four places on the Snyder city council that expire and one incumbent councilman, Ron Shaw, has already filed.
Shaw is seeking his second term representing District 4 on the city council. He has also served two terms, as an at-large member having first been elected in 1995 and this is his second run for the District 4 position.
The terms of Vernest Tippens and Stephanie Ducheneaux are also up for election this spring and both have indicated they will seek new terms.
The District 3 spot is now vacant, as James Ashley has moved from the community.
No one has yet signed up for the posts up for election on the Hermleigh and Ira school boards.
At Hermleigh, the terms of Sherene Digby and David Higgins will expire.
Digby said she was undecided and Higgins said he would not be seeking another term.
Ira trustees whose terms are expiring are Keith Clements and Dirk Dunn. Both have indicated they will seek re-election.
