The regional quarterfinal opponent for the winner of tonight’s Snyder-Perryton area round playoff game was determined in emphatic fashion Thursday, with defending state champion Canyon crushing District 3-3A third seed Denver City, 80-37.

Canyon, which improved to 28-2 on the season, was up 42-16 at halftime.

Jordan Hampton canned 15, Kacee Carey knocked in 14 and Catherine McMenamy added 13 for Canyon, which got scoring contributions from nine of their 10 players.

Snyder and Perryton play at 7 tonight at Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock.

The Sweetwater Mustangs moved a step closer to a postseason berth with a 42-34 victory over Lamesa.

Sweetwater, Lamesa and Seminole all finished with 4-6 records in district. Seminole won the coin flip at the district meeting, earning a bye for the first game of the play-in.

Seminole and Sweetwater will play for the final playoff slot in District 3-3A at 5:30 today in Post.

The Lady Mustangs will take on Muleshoe at Post in a contest originally scheduled for 6:30 tonight. The game will be played immediately after the boys game.
