Hermleigh ISD school board tabled action on calling the trustee election for May 15 until appointment of an election judge is also placed on the agenda.
“We will call the election and name our election judge during our March board meeting,” said Supt. Marvin Beaty.
The terms of Sherene Digby and David Higgins will expire.
In other business Tuesday evening, trustees extended the contract of school principal Clarence Spieker until June 2006, and gave him a $1,200 raise to make his salary $56,200 annually.
The trustees also amended the board policy concerning the hiring and retention of “at-will” employees to give the superintendent that authorization.
New athletic director and head coach Jason Brewer also addressed the board about future plans for the school’s athletic programs. Hermleigh will compete in 11-man football starting next fall.
Beaty also reported on building projects at the school. “The renovation of the gym’s concession area is right on schedule.”
Beaty also said the new ag barn has been “dried in” and is only awaiting finishing touches.
