Eight spellers will vie for the top position in the Snyder ISD Spelling Bee slated 9 a.m. Tuesday at Western Texas College’s Fine Arts Theatre.
Spellers will consist of the first and second place winners in campus bees held at East, Northeast, West and Snyder Junior High School.
Tyson Sullenger and Ashleigh Falcon will represent East Elementary. Sullenger, the son of Greg and Brenda Sullenger, won East’s bee. Falcon, the runner-up, is the daughter of Terry and Teresa Falcon.
Northeast Elementary’s top spellers are Nicole Molter and Stevie Dauphin.
Molter, who won first place in the campus bee, is the daughter of Mike and Liffin Molter. Runner-up Dauphin is the son of J.B. Cline and Amber Lyle.
Monica Clanton and Jonathan Kerr will represen t West Elementary. Clanton won first place in the campus bee and is the daughter of Monte and Anne Clanton. Kerr is the runner-up. He is the son of Thomas and Carol Kerr.
Two eighth graders won the junior high bee. First-place winner J.W. Wesson is the son of Jay and Tammy Wesson. Runner-up James Simmons is the son of Celissa and James Simmons.
For the SISD bee, Dr. Edward Barkowsky will be the dictionary and recording judge. Rebekah Thornton will pronounce the words. Judges will be Carolyn Osborn, Ruth Richburg and Julie Sentell.
The regional bee will take place March 6 in Lubbock.
