The eighth-grade boys A team used a thrilling opening game and a pair of dominant efforts to win the Lamesa Tournament and improve to 15-0 on the season.
Brooks Gafford was the hero of the first game, draining a pair of threes with under 20 seconds left to send the opener against Andrews to overtime.
With the Tigers trailing by six, Gafford drained his first three with 17 seconds on the clock, then tied it up at the buzzer on a long trey. The team went on to secure a 47-44 win in overtime.
Gafford finished with 11 points in the first game, and Lance Day led all players with 12.
Brent Bollinger and Ryan Claxton each pumped in 10. And Blaine Knipe and Dustin Murdock added two each.
Bollinger drained 15 in the second game, as the junior high Tigers rolled over Big Spring, 56-22.
Murdock and Claxton recorded nine and eight points, respectively, while Day and Gafford cashed in with seven each.
Knipe contributed six, Travis Hatfield canned three and Allen Jones hit a free throw.
In the championship game, the team drilled five from behind the arc and spread the ball around the court in hammering Midland Christian, 42-24.
Gafford led the way with 12, Claxton cashed in for eight, and Knipe drained seven.
Murdock had seven, Bollinger hit for five and Lance Day ended the game with four points.
The junior high clubs will head to Sweetwater tonight, with games getting underway at 5.
