Marie Stanfield
1926-2004
Reva Marie Stanfield of Snyder died Friday, Feb. 6, in
Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Services for Mrs. Stanfield, 77, are pending at
Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1926 in Saline County, Mo., to
William and Mary LaRose. She married Robert Lee Bob Stanfield on Aug. 20,
1948. They resided in Marshall, Mo., prior to making their home in Snyder where they were
partners with John and Evelyn Thomas in a Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge and Honda Motorcycle
agency.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; one
sister, Wilma Bryan; and two brothers, Warren and Paul LaRose.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Stanfield of Snyder;
two sons, Bruce Stanfield of Snyder and Terry Stanfield of Houston; one stepdaughter,
Sherry Twyman of Prairie Village, Kan.; one sister, Evelyn Thomas of Marshall, Mo.; two
brothers, Ralph LaRose of Independence, Mo., and Bill LaRose of Prairie Village, Kan.; two
grandsons, Christopher and Jeffrey Stanfield, both of Snyder; one granddaughter, Terra
Stanfield Seidel of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one stepgrandson, Matt Twyman, one step
great-grandson, Luke Twyman, both of Des Peres, Mo.; and one step granddaughter, Emily
Twyman of Prairie Village, Kan.
Thelma Ford
1912-2004
Thelma Ford, 91, of Snyder died Saturday, Feb. 7, in
Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Service for Mrs. Ford, longtime Snyder resident, has been
set for 2 p.m. Monday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in
Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Nov. 28, 1912 in Summerville County, she married
Kermit George Ford on Nov. 29, 1930 in Scurry County. He died in November 1995. Mrs. Ford
worked for Snyder Laundry for 25 years. She was a member of Avenue D Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Don Ford
in 1987; two brothers, Buck and Henry Layne; and two sisters, Virginia Huddleston and
Mattie Hobbs.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Holladay and Kay
Hickman, both of Snyder; two sons, Weldon Ford of Tuscola and Leon Ford of Midland; two
sisters, Luella Looney of Canton and Anna Belle Stewart of Groverton; nine grandchildren;
23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Jo Nokes
1928-2004
MIDLAND -- Jo Nokes, a longtime resident of Midland,
Texas went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 31, 2004 in Midland.
She was born December 9, 1928 in Vernon, Texas to Everett
and Callie Wyatt. Jo graduated high school in Conroe, Texas where she enjoyed many
activities, especially being captain of the drill team. She was also very active in her
church while growing up. Jo had a great love for the outdoors and she loved to hunt and
fish with her family. She had a second home on Lake Amistad in Del Rio where she loved
spending time. She was an avid rock collector, so much so that she would pack her finds
and move them with her.
Jo was an excellent homemaker and she enjoyed cooking and
baking for her family. She was also an excellent seamstress and as her sons were growing
up, she sewed many of their clothes. Jo enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting, and in recent
years, she crocheted baby blankets and donated them to battered womens shelters.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and
her husband Johnny Preston Nokes Sr. in 1997.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Preston Nokes Jr. and
his wife Gale, and Ray F. Nokes and his wife Linda, six grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; her sister Marie Lee; her uncle, T.C. Wyatt; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at
Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Douglas Lamb officiating with interment at Resthaven
Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801
Andrews Hwy. In Midland.
